Explore and Analyse PECDv4.2 Climate and Energy Data

This collection of training notebooks was developed for the 2025 ENTSO-E ECMWF training on the Copernicus PECDv4.2 dataset. The data is provided via the Copernicus Climate Data Store (CDS) and combines:

• 🌍 Climate data (e.g. wind speed, global horizontal irradiance, temperature, precipitation)

• ⚡ Energy indicators (e.g. capacity factors for solar PV and wind power, hydropower inflows)

The notebooks demonstrate how to:

• 🔽 Download PECD data using the CDS API (full datasets and subsamples)

• 📂 Explore both gridded and aggregated data from NetCDF and CSV files respectively

• 📊 Generate figures, maps, and statistics for energy-climate analysis

• ⚙️ Compare different wind and solar technologies

• 🌡️ Analyze the impacts of climate change using CMIP6 projections

• 🗺️ Perform custom spatial aggregations using NUTS masks or custom groupings

• ☀️ Analyze PV overplanting scenarios
